After a pause during the pandemic, we’re resuming our practice of adopting fare & toll increases every other year. This keeps changes predictable for riders and helps us keep you moving. On Sunday, August 20, these changes take effect:
The base fare for subway, local bus, and paratransit is changing to $2.90 and Reduced-Fare trips will cost $1.45.
When you tap with OMNY, you'll be able start your week anytime, take 12 paid trips, and then ride for free for the rest of the week. Since you don’t pay upfront, you never pay for trips you don’t take. Learn more.
If you're jetting out of town, keep in mind that trains aren't running to or from Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK all weekend. Your best options for getting to or from the airport are taking the to Howard Beach-JFK Airport, the to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK, or the LIRR to Jamaica.

Major subway service changes
trains, all boroughs
From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains are not running between 96 St in Manhattan and Wakefield-241 St in the Bronx; trains are not running at all; and trains are running on the line between E 180 St and Wakefield-241 St. This is because of signal maintenance.
- Free shuttle buses are running along three routes:
- Local between 96 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
- Express between 96 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
- Local between 96 St and Harlem-148 St.
- Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- trains are running between Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College and 96 St
- trains are not running at all.
- For service to/from stations, take the or train, or a free shuttle bus for stations north of 96 St.
- trains are extended to New Lots Av all weekend.
- trains are running in two sections:
- Between Bowling Green and E 180 St, and via the line to/from Wakefield-241 St.
- Between E 180 St and Dyre Av.

trains, Manhattan and Queens
Manhattan-bound trains are not stopping at Queensboro Plaza 24/7 through 5 a.m., August 14 while we make accessibility upgrades.
- Use the nearby Queens Plaza station. Or, take a Queens-bound train to 39 Av or 33 St and then transfer.
trains are not stopping at 34 St-Hudson Yards from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.
- Use the nearby 34 St-Penn Station station or take the M34-SBS.
- Overnight, Q92 shuttle buses run between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Times Sq-42 St.
- trains are running between Times Sq-42 St and Flushing-Main St.
Manhattan-bound trains are running on the express track from Mets-Willets Pt to 74 St-Broadway from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of station improvement work.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Flushing-bound train.
- Reminder: The Manhattan-bound platforms at 111 St and 82 St-Jackson Hts are closed 24/7 through Fall 2023 for rehabilitation work.

trains are not running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Atlantic Av-Barclys Cr in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.
- trains are running in two sections:
- Between Bedford Park Blvd and 34 St-Herald Sq.
- Between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
- Free shuttle buses are running between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Grand St. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- For service to from stations between 34 St-Herald Sq and Broadway-Lafayette St, take the train.
- For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take trains
- Transfer between and trains at 34 St-Herald Sq at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
trains are not stopping at Norwood-205 St 24/7 until August 25 because of structural maintenance.
- Free shuttle buses are running between Norwood-205 St and Bedford Park Blvd.

trains, Queens
trains aren't running between Briarwood and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical work.
- Free shuttle buses are running between Kew Gardens-Union Tpke and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- trains are running between World Trade Center and Briarwood, and via the to/from Jamaica-179 St.
- For direct service to/from JFK Airport, take the to Howard Beach-JFK Airport, the to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK, or the LIRR to Jamaica.
- LIRR will accommodate customers at no additional cost at Penn Station, Woodside, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, and Jamaica.

trains are not running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization work.
- Free F1 shuttle buses are running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- For direct service to/from W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the train.
- For direct service to/from Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take trains.
- trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

trains, Manhattan
trains are not running between 8 Av and 14 St-Union Sq in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility improvement work.
- M14A/D-SBS and free L92 shuttle buses provide alternate service at 8 Av, 6 Av, and 14 St-Union Sq. Transfer between the M14/L92 and at 14 St-Union Sq.
- trains are running between 14 St-Union Sq and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy.

trains, Brooklyn
Brooklyn-bound trains are running on the express track from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
- Note: Overnight, when trains normally run local, they'll run express between these stations instead.
- Reminder: trains aren't running because of planned work.

Manhattan-bound trains are running on the express track from Pelham Bay Park to Parchester from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station improvement work.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound train.

trains are running on the line between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Canal St in both directions from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.
- trains will make all stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Canal St.
- Reminder: At Canal St, board trains on the platform.

trains, Queens
Astoria-bound trains are running on the express track from Queensboro Plaza to Astoria Blvd from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement work.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train, or the Q102 bus.
- Reminder: The Manhattan-bound platform at Queensboro Plaza is temporarily closed.

Long Island Rail Road service changes
Hempstead Branch
Eastbound trains are bypassing Hillside (LIRR employees only), Hollis, and Queens Village due to a train that derailed near Hillside Thursday. This service change is in effect until further notice. Check the service status on our homepage for updates.
- Limited shuttle bus service is available between Jamaica, Hillside, Hollis, and Queens Village.
- NYC Transit is cross-honoring on the Q2, Q3, Q8, and Q110 buses for service between Jamaica and Queens Village.
Port Jefferson Branch
Trains are not running between Huntington and Port Jefferson in either direction from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 1:45 a.m. Monday because of track and switch replacement.
- Buses are running between Huntington and Port Jefferson.
- Westbound buses will leave up to 40 minutes earlier than regular train times. Use the TrainTime app to view bus departure times at your station.
- To avoid busing, consider using the Ronkonkoma Branch on these weekends.
- Trains are running between Manhattan and Huntington. See the special timetable here.
- The last trains to run on Friday night are the 11:27 p.m. from Huntington (10:13 p.m. from Penn Station) and the 11:28 p.m. from Port Jefferson.
- Service resumes on Monday morning with the 1:11 a.m. from Jamaica

New Canaan Branch
Trains are not running between New Canaan and Stamford in either direction 24/7 through Friday, September 1 because of track maintenance and bridge repair work.
- Buses are running between New Canaan and Stamford.
